Sorry about the triple posting! I got messages each time telling me there was a server error, so I thought the posts were not made!

Well...my 2 pesos
I inherited a Canon 814e from my late uncle that really spawned my interest in filmmaking. That and my mom dragging me to movie theaters before I could hardly walk. I remember playing director with it when I was 5 or 6. Good thing I didn't break it, as I was a hellion in my early days!
I'm partial to my 814e, it's built like a tank and shoots beautiful film. Next is the Nautica, great underwater, but also just a great no-frills point and shoot camera.

Beaulieu 4008ZMII--It is the only camera that is worth my time. I have never liked the Canons, Elmos or Nizos.

This is a tought question....
I've had a Beaulieu, a Canon 1014XL-S, 814XL-S, Nikon R-10, Nikon Super Zoom, Nizo 6080, 6056 & Nizo 801, and a Bauer 715XL-S.
I'm now down to the Bauer 715XL-S, Nizo 6080, 801, and a Nikon Super Zoom (when you need to smuggle a camera somewhere!).
Although I shot LOST TRIBES on the Nikon R-10 (and a little on the super zoom), and I love that camera (Nikon lenses yeah!), the excessive noise really almost destroyed the movie.
So, by far, of all those cameras, the Nizo 6080 is the quietest, so it's my favorite.
If noise didn't matter (and it does!), it would have to be a toss-up between the Bauer715XL-S and the Canon 1014XL-S.
That Bauer is really the best made of all of them though. When you hold it in your hand, you know you're holding a solid piece of machinery!
And whoever said the Canon 1014XL-S is "virtually silent" (I think it may be on this site), is DEAD WRONG!
It is a myth that sound cameras were made quieter because they were made to record sound. Some are quieter (Nizo 6080) some are not. The Canon and Bauer are about 75% as noisy as my R-10 was, which basically sounded like someone cranking a manual egg-beater in the background. Bummer!

I have a couple of favorites, depending on what I am doing. My Beaulieu 5008 has awesome Schneider zoom, and I have fitted it with numerous Arri lenses and some photo lenses using adapters. But damn the thing is heavy and bulky. My 2008 is like a portable version but smaller lense. I have shot with the Canon 1014XL and give great images, great features, as well as a friends Elmo (which appears to be a canon clone), and it was the same. So many great cameras, so little time.
